febi Italia chooses Microsoft Dynamics NAV for the innovation of its management system.

METADATA-STARTThe ERP NAV is the hinge that allowed us to connect and industrialize a set of services with which we enrich our offer of quality spare parts, focusing on slim, speed, accuracy, availability of goods and personalization in the relationship management customers. In the automotive, when it comes to quality, the focus is on production, materials, controls and precision construction. Our approach is to add these assets to the service as a competitive factorIn addition, I am pleased to report that, with regard to the procedure of implementation and start-up of management, the case of the Italian subsidiary was reported by the head of Group IT at all other subsidiaries worldwide as an example of best practice with regard to efficient, rapid and on time and on budget: the new ERP system has become operational after 14 weeks of the first meeting of the project team and the first shipments departed from our warehouse in Settimo Torinese the same day and without error of any kind.

A fast growing company with an inadequate system

The company was using a homemade management application made in Microsoft Access 2007, to manage accounting, sales, purchasing and inventory. The use of Access presented limits in the performance, especially when the amount of data to manage and the number of simultaneous connections in writing rose appreciably. The program in use was no longer able to support the growth of the company, with a turnover of more than 7 and a half million euro in 2013 and a catalog of over 22,000 spare parts of OE quality, that now needs a evolved management solution that also allowed to have an agile electronic exchange of data with SAP‘s headquarters in Germany.

The solution of EID

febi Italia turned to EID for the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, an international ERP with a central platform, which provides access to the necessary information to make the most of every business interaction. The product has been equipped by Tempo Zero, the add-on which has allowed a rapid start-up of Dynamics NAV with its flexible business models and the many additional features that have prevented the development of many costly customization.

The project was aimed at optimizing assortment, brokerage and logistics activities that are typical of commercial companies.

The system of cross-docking have been finalized to allow quick delivery and the elimination of the costs of storage and handling: with this system the goods passes in stock only administratively, with only a brief stop on the ground, thanks to a perfect coordination of the input and output flows. Even multiorder shipments have been enhanced, through mechanisms of selection of the material according to availability.

The integration with the SAP system of the parent company has automated loading of sales orders and purchase orders, ultimately freeing the operator from manual loading of the goods. The update of the many complex price lists and articles list is guaranteed by the synchronization of information via electronic flow.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV is integrated with the B2B eCommerce already in use. The customer, by accessing the portal, can see the availability of items in real time and display the correct price by synchronizing the sales lists, customized for the type of customer connected to the site.

Document management is much easier because the sales invoices and DDT are now sent automatically (in some cases also with automatic import if the customer has a suitable system) and stored on a network file server without manual intervention.

The integration with the eCommerce B2B allowed to streamline the tool: today the 95% of rush orders are placed through this channel.

The automation of procedures allowing the release of a human resource, who – from the customer carewas allocated to other tasks. The team assigned to the orders has moved from five to four people and sales in 2015 will exceed 15% of the result obtained in 2014.

Future developments

Maximizing business efficiency is a prerequisite for febi Italy that, after 12 months of the start of the new ERP, is ready to streamline warehouse processes through advanced management of consumption through the MobileNAV platform: warehouse operators will display the list of shipments to be prepared via mobile devices and, reading the bar code, picking the wrong item will be impossible; quantities ordered by lot of origin will be managed.

In the near future it is expected to give birth to a new e-commerce site fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
